Brown Rice Junkie (A MINUTE RICE GIVEAWAY!)

Thanks to the wonderful folks at the Minute Rice Company -- I've become a Brown Rice junkie. :0

Not a bad thing!

I had been reluctant to try Brown Rice. For some reason, I didn't think I'd like it. But I found the Ready-To-Serve at my grocery store and decided to give it a try.

Oh. Oh, my.

What a wonderful flavour. It was rich... nutty... almost creamy in it's texture and mouth-feel. Hooked. I'm absolutely hooked.

One of the very best things about Minute Brown Rice, aside from the deliciousness, is the 10 minute cooking time! No waiting 30 minutes for the rice -- just 10 minutes to a perfect dish! Love it!

Brown Rice is amazing. It is an excellent source of Whole Grain, has a low glycemic index, and is a complex carbohydrate. Complex carbs fuel your body and gives you the energy to keep going longer!

From the website:
"A whole grain is all of the parts and naturally occurring nutrients of the entire grain seed. Whole grains are powerhouses of nutrients and fiber, and even when the grain is processed, such as when its ground, extruded or cooked, it delivers nearly the same powerful punch as that of the original grain. Researchers are continuing to unlock the importance of whole grain’s vital role in helping to protect the body from cancer and heart disease."

The Ready-To-Serve packs are wonderful, both as stand-alone lunches or as a quick addition to any meal. Just pop the serving cup into the microwave for 1 minute and it's done! Piping hot and delicious!

Recipes utilizing Brown Rice are endless. Just this week, I've used my samples in three dishes! Of course, I also ate a cup of the Ready-To-Serve Brown Rice by itself as mid-afternoon snack to tide me over until dinner. Yummy!

The Ready-to-Serve package contains 1 cup of Brown Rice. 230 calories (only 40 from fat!), 140 g potassium, 2 g fiber, and 5g protein! Very healthy! Very low sodium, too, with only 150 mg per serving.

I am surprised you never tried this before now. Good stuff and works good with veggies for a quick meal.

D hasn't decided whether she likes it or not yet, but I love it. And, yes--I am a fan on Facebook.

Thanks for entering my giveaway. Good luck. I will enter yours too. I use the minute brown rice often when preparing tofu dishes. I keep it simple with tofu, veggies and brown rice.

I never knew they made brown rice!

Stir-frys are my favorite way to eat rice - I can use a little but it seems like a lot mixed in the veggies! :D

I love Minute Rice. I make a batch of it every week, to use throughout the week.

Regarding your comment on my blog, I think the "one bite rule" is perfect. I will definitely use that with my own children!

Brown rice is great, and it also freezes well. I make a big batch of it and then use it as needed. I have a brown rice & veggie wrap that everyone loves!
