Plateau's Over!

The 6-week long plateau is finally over! I've lost a pound! A pound in six weeks is not fantastic... but it's not bad considering the options!

I've had my share of adventure this past weekend... and glad the new week has arrived.

I will say that this morning's weigh-in has really perked me up! The fact that a cold front is moving in with the promise of temperatures 10 degrees below today's high of 90 has me dancing!

I LOVE cold weather! Bring it on!

And bring on the salad... fruits... yogurt... and 1% milk! Let's keep this scale moving on down!

NO DEAD END!

I don't believe in Dead Ends! Not in life, anyway!

The Dead End sign is the half-way marker of my walk around the neighbourhood. When I reach it, I tap it with my hand-weights and start the homeward leg of my trip.

The past six weeks, I've been on a plateau. Seemingly a dead end. But it isn't and I know it. I just have to keep moving, keep working at it.

I not only walked this morning, I finished all of my upper body exercises requiring hand-weights. I'll be doing my resistance band exercises and mini-tramp jumping after lunch.

I feel... so motivated.

Plateau be damned -- I'm on a roll now!

ACCOUNTABILITY

You'll notice I've added two more tickers to the main page of this blog. One ticker (on the top of the page) logs in Miles Walked -- with a goal of 100 miles.
The ticker at the bottom of the page logs in Hours spent exercising.

Today, I spent 2 hours mowing the lawn (push mower) and burned a total of 1080 calories. I haven't done my mile walk around the neighbourhood yet, either! (Although, I have walked one mile in total today).

Yea, me!

This plateau has stressed me out -- but it's a plateau of my own making. I wasn't moving enough. I wasn't burning enough calories per day / week to add up to a loss of weight.

Time to change that and get myself in high gear.

I'm hoping that keeping a log of my time spent exercising will motivate me. Same with the miles walked log.

You know, this FEELS so right: my muscles are a bit sore and I'm tired. A good tired.

I still have one side of the yard to finish tomorrow as well as the back yard. That'll burn some calories.

I guess after that, I get to tackle our Library. Oh. Joy. ;0
Lifting and packing hardback books is so much fun!

Hey! I haven't jumped on the mini-tramp yet, either! That's another + in the calories burned column!

I'll have to do that after the Chorus Boosters meeting, though. I can't miss that as it's my DD's last year of Chorus before she starts College.
How did she talk me into volunteering this time?

I hope your evening is wonderful and your weigh-in is a positive!

Positive Re-enforcement!

A very positive re-enforcement this morning!

I bought a new pair of new jeans several weeks ago -- they were a bit too small when I bought them -- just that little bit too tight.
They were for my "October" weight.

In a pique of curiosity, I tried them on and... I'M WEARING THEM NOW!!!
They fit and are NOT tight at all! V*I*C*T*O*R*Y!

Plateau or no plateau -- I've lost inches!

I will try to get a photo taken tomorrow after Mass. I'm really very excited!

SAHALE SNACKS REVIEW and GIVEAWAY!

A few days ago, I reviewed the SAHALE SNACKS product, Valdosta Pecans.

Today, I'm reviewing another of their wonderful products, Cashews with Pomegranate + Vanilla.

These cashews are positively addictive. They are lightly salted with sea salt for a nice crunch. The vanilla is subtle and the pomegranate makes for a sweet burst of flavour.
I was impressed with the 'lightness' of the nuts -- not heavy at all. It's a very energizing snack -- and extremely portable -- the packs fit well into purses or backpacks.

Serving size is 1/4 cup and only 150 calories -- and fits quite nicely into a healthy eating plan. Sodium content is only 90 mg -- just 4% of the of the RDA! With 4 grams of protein and 5 grams of monounsaturated fat (the 'good' fat) -- this is a great, healthy snack anytime!

In conjunction with SAHALE and their product representatives, I am very pleased to be able to offer three (3) prize packs to my readers!

Sahale Snacks has a wonderful Facebook page. Please stop by and check it out! You'll learn more about their products and where to find them.

Sahale Snacks on Facebook!

Just leave a comment with your name, email address, and a short note telling me how you incorporate nuts / fruits into your daily eating plan!

I'll choose three (3) winners on Thursday afternoon!

Good luck and don't forget to leave a comment!

Have a wonderful day!

Terri

CH-CH-CH-CHANGES!

Changes! Always a good thing -- well, almost always!

I cleaned out my closets, cedar chest, and dresser drawers and found a lot of clothes that I'd put away last fall. I can't over the number of things that I found that are way too big for me now. Some of those things were too small last year. Amazing.

One big shock was my grey Clan MacDuff t-shirt. It's HUGE -- I'll be using it as a sleep shirt. It's way too big for me now. Gosh, that's so nice to say.

I can really see those changes now. I am so very thankful that I finally woke up and began to change my life.

A trip to the thrift store to make a donation is in the works for this afternoon.

I want to review a product for you: SAHALE SNACKS. I read about them at Spark People and wanted to give them a try.
I found them at Publix in Savannah and bought the Valdosta Pecans -- Pecans, Sweet Cranberries, Black Pepper, and Orange Zest.

One serving = 1/4 cup for 130 calories.

These are absolutely fantastic! The pecans are not too sweet and not bitter at all, the cranberries provide a sweet off-set to the black pepper. I didn't really taste much of the Orange zest, though. These could easily be chopped up a bit and sprinkled over a plain salad to give it some extra 'zip'!

I paid $3.98 for a 5 oz. bag. There are 5 servings per bag.

I'll definitely buy these again. Next time, I'm buying the Cashew-Pomegranate! Check them out for yourself -- you won't be disappointed.

Zero Again!

I weighed-in this morning and there is no movement on the scale. Very frustraing so I waited for my Doctor and spoke to him for a few minutes.
I explained my situation and he told me something that made a lot of sense to me.
Stress, he told me, is the silent nemesis to weight loss.
I've been stressed for several weeks and am just now feeling like that stress is easing up. Stressing over my weight (and this plateau) just makes it worse.

It's hard not to fret -- I was losing steadily -- then nothing. Just pulling zero after zero. After I talked with Dr. Jack, I calmed down and took a good look at myself.
I'm 58 pounds lighter... and as of yesterday, 3 inches smaller. I'm not gaining -- I'm holding steady.
That in itself is a very good thing!

So, I will not fret and worry. I'll just keep working at it and take it as it comes.
The weather is getting cooler -- the humidity is low right now -- and I am enjoying walking.

Deep breaths... clear mind... no worries...

Life is good.

A Measure of time

I measured myself (well, okay, Mike did the measuring!) last night.
I've lost 3 inches since July! YIPPEE! Three inches?
In the waist, thighs, and chest! I'll take it!

Even though the scale hasn't moved in 4 weeks, I'm toning. That's a good thing. I'm hoping this past week will serve to kickstart the scales, too.

I've managed to keep to the lower end of my calorie plan. I've upped my water intake, lowered my sodium. I've also started back with my Fibre Choice tablets. They do make a difference.

I'm ready to take a walk around the neighbourhood -- it's absolutely gorgeous outside. It's 78 degrees right now (it's 12:30 p.m.) and there is a lovely breeze blowing. I'm going to do 2 laps around for 2 miles.

There is something about Fall -- it energizes me. Fall, Winter, Spring -- those are the months that keep me going. I am not a Summer person... it just shuts me down. I guess it's the heat and humidity that does me in.

I already have dinner in the crock pot -- Navy beans and smoked ham. Lots of fibre and protein!

See y'all soon and don't forget that today is the LAST day of the Fab Fatties Cruisin' Crazy Challenge -- be there or be square!
