I am crazy about sauces and dips that use peppers as a main ingredient. For me, the spicier / hotter, the better!
I was delighted to receive a bottle of Roasted Pineapple and Habanero Sauce from Robert Rothschild Farm.
It's lovely sauce just to look at -- bright chunks of pineapple, the deep orange of the habanero -- and oh -- that amazing fragrance. I couldn't resist -- I ate a spoonful of it right away.
The flavours are just so incredible. I went out and bought a box of crackers, spreadable swiss cheese, topped that off with the sauce, and proceeded to eat WAY too much! But it was so good. :) I highly recommend it!
This is a very versatile sauce: as a topper for cheese and crackers, as a dip for veggies (or cooked meats), as a marinade -- you name it.
This is my favourite recipe from the Robert Rothschild website:
Easy Weeknight Pork Chops
Ingredients
4 Pork loin or rib chops, 3/4 inch thick
2 Tbsp. Olive oil
2 cups Robert Rothschild Farm Roasted Pineapple and Habanero Sauce or Dip
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Grilling: Grill pork on preheated, oiled grill for about 6 to 8 minutes per side, or until done, basting with Roasted Pineapple and Habanero Sauce every 1-2 minutes.
Stovetop: Heat a large skillet coated with cooking spray over medium-high heat. Cook chops 4 minutes on each side or until browned. Remove from pan. Add Roasted Pineapple and Habanero Sauce to pan, scraping to loosen browned bits. Add chops back to pan and finish pork chops in a 450 degree F oven.
The generous folks at Robert Rothschild have kindly offered TWO of my readers the chance to try the Roasted Pineapple and Habanero Sauce for themselves! Neat, eh?
