I'm from Savannah, Georgia (I was raised on Tybee Island) and I LOVE fish! Savannah is famous for her saltwater and fresh water fish and shrimp. But... it can be a bit expensive at times. And notoriously hard to catch -- well, for me anyway. Tying worms into little bows is hard and they tend to slither right off the hook... ;)
When Gorton's asked me to try their new Grilled Fish products, I was thrilled to accept! I've been a loyal fan of the Gorton's Fisherman for many a year. I had not tried the grilled fish, however.
Gorton's offers several new grilled items: Garlic Butter Fillets, Classic Grilled Salmon, Signature Grilled Tilapia, and Cajun Grilled Fillets
I chose the Cajun Grilled Fillets and Signature Grilled Tilapia for our first meal. My Mom and Mike were eager to help me out -- so we made a simple dinner for three. I baked the already perfectly-seasoned fillets with tater-tots and hot rolls. It's the perfect quick meal after a hectic day.
I was happily surprised by the Cajun Grilled Fillets -- they were NOT too spicy at all and just a touch of heat made them amazing. I can't wait to use them again in a lettuce wrap!
The fillets are lovely. The fish is slightly sweet (as good fish should be!), flaky, moist. A perfect blend of spices lightly seasons the fillets so no additional seasoning is necessary. *This is good for both my mom and me because we have High Blood Pressure.*
Gorton’s Grilled Fillets are real flame-grilled Tilapia, Salmon, Haddock and Alaska Pollock Fillets seasoned with real vegetables, herbs and spices. Plus, they are GFCO-certified Gluten Free with no artificial flavors or colors, no MSG and no fillers. With 100 calories or less of lean protein available in a variety of delicious flavors, Gorton’s Grilled options are an excellent addition to your meal plan.
For the second meal, I used the Classic Grilled Salmon for a quick lunch of Salmon Soft Tacos! I topped the salmon fillets with a Parmesan-peppercorn dressing and baked according to instructions. I then flaked the fillets, spread then out on flour tortillas and topped with pico de gallo, shredded lettuce, and a bit more dressing. Then just rolled them up! Easy as pie and SO. DARN. GOOD. Sadly, I ate them before I got the photo... :( Not my brightest moment. I assure you, however, that they are a taste sensation!
Gorton's has some fabulous recipe ideas. You can check them out here.
