Uterine Fibroids -- Innovative Treatments -- CLOSED!

CLOSED

So many women suffer with Uterine Fibroids. It's estimated to affect 20-50% of women of childbearing age. It impacts almost every aspect of their lives.
Previously, treatment has often been invasive, painful surgery.

However, there is a bright light on the horizon.

Uterine-Fibroids promotes MRI guided Focused Ultrasound Surgery (MRgFUS) as a preferable treatment for uterine fibroids and as a replacement for hysterectomy.

MRgFUS, treats uterine fibroids non-invasively in an out patient setting without the need for general anesthesia or hospitalization, greatly reducing recovery time and the risks of side effects.

Insightec is the developer of ExAblate One for women's health and ExAblate OR (the non-invasive operating room), MRI guided Focused Ultrasound Surgery, the cutting edge of fibroid treatment without cutting.

What are uterine fibroids?
Uterine fibroids (non-cancerous tumors) are quite common - affecting between 20-50% of women of childbearing age. While many women do not experience any problems, symptoms can be severe enough to require treatment.

What are the key symptoms of uterine fibroids?
•Heavy and prolonged periods
•Bleeding between periods
•Lower back or leg pain
•Pain during sexual intercourse
•Need for frequent urination caused by bladder pressure
•Feeling of fullness in the lower abdomen

Why choose ExAblate for treating your uterine fibroids?
*It's non-invasive - so there's no cutting or general anesthesia
*It's an outpatient procedure - so in most cases there's no hospital stay
*It's not experimental - so it's safe for use and reduces the risk of side effects
*There's a short recovery time - you'll return to livelihood quickly

I learned that there are four primary types of uterine fibroids, that fibroids can grow to be larger than a melon, and that there is a center in Northbrook, IL closest to me.

I learned that first, the doctor identifies the fibroid(s) on MR images taken of your pelvic region. Then, after detailed planning, high energy focused ultrasound waves heat a small spot in the uterine fibroid to a temperature of up to 85oC. During the pulse or sonication, which lasts about 15 seconds, the doctor monitors the progress and reviews temperature-sensitive images. Since each sonication treats a very small volume, this process will be repeated until the required volume is treated, typically about 50 times. The procedure lasts about 3 hours depending upon the size and number of fibroids treated.
