Tyler's Coffee Review & Giveaway Ends 1/24/12

Ya'll know that I'm a Java Junkie -- always in search of a new coffee to try and share!

I recently discovered Tyler's Coffees -- a new brand that is acid-free! Do you know how important it is for a coffee to be acid-free? No more worrying about the breakdown of tooth enamel -- stronger teeth -- fewer cavities!

I admit -- when I made my first batch -- it was too strong and bitter. What did I do wrong? I used WAY too much coffee! I have a 4-cup coffee-maker and I used enough coffee for 10 (!) cups!

I made another pot, adjusted accordingly, and it was excellent! I also have a "drip" coffee-maker and I believe that Tyler's Coffees is best suited to the French Press method.

It's a very smooth coffee. Full-bodied, bold flavour, nice sharpness at the end. The taste is interesting -- lovely and deep. Faintly woodsy. Definitely a great early morning coffee!

From the Website:

Tyler’s Coffee uses a “Z-Roasting” process that optimizes the time the coffee beans are cooked; the result is high levels of caffeine and free of acid. Benefits of an acid free coffee are tooth enamel is protected and teeth are stronger leading to fewer cavities.

“If the acid level of the saliva stays below the point for an extended period of time, the outer layers of tooth structure begin to lose minerals and a cavity can from. Beverages that are high in sugar and acid content can cause the pH level of the saliva to reach this critical point. Drinking no acid coffee is a good alternative to high acid beverages."

-Dr. T. Richard Ziehmer, a dentist in Tucson, AZ

A little cup of java can mean a big problem for stomachs. Acid levels in coffee, as well as impurities and resins, may wreak havoc on the digestive tract. Our customers with sensitive stomachs are relieved to learn that they can still continue enjoying a great cup of coffee whenever they want.

I learned that these coffee beans are from South America. And that between 20 - 200 mg. of caffine per hour is the optimal dose for cognitive function.

I learned that Caffeine may increase the speed with which you work, may decrease attentional lapses, and may even benefit recall - but is less likely to benefit more complex cognitive functions, and may even hurt others.

I learned that their acid-free coffee is better for your stomach. The extra caffeine is a HUGE plus (as that's why I drink coffee!)
