Celebrate Earth Day with Glass Dharma! $25 GC Giveaway Ends 5/3/14

Today is Earth Day!  The day we celebrate our home planet.  It's the day to renew and rejuvenate our natural resources.  This is a day of World observance and education for all.  To sustain life, we must all contribute to save the Earth.  Big or small -- each time we reuse, reclaim, replant, and restore -- we make the world a better place.

It is always a pleasure to work with a company that believes in and produces reusable, sustainable items. Glass Dharma is just such a company.

They produce glass straws with borosilicate tubing,  the strongest glass commercially available. This ensures that the glass is very strong and resistant to cracking and breaking.   These amazing glass straws are not only beautiful, but think of how much you save when you use them.  And I'm NOT talking only about money.

Just imagine, if you will, how many straws you use in a year's time. A lot? Too many? And where do they all end up? In the trash and off to a land-fill.  Plastics don't break down easily. It takes years.  How many plastic straws are made and discarded yearly? Trillions.

How long will a glass straw last? Years.  If treated properly, maybe a lifetime.

It's not hard to switch to glass straws.  They are portable: keep them in your purse or glove compartment.  Easy to clean. Practically unbreakable.

Lizz took her Glass Dharma straws off to University and uses them still.  Mike and I love ours, too.  About once a month, we let them soak in distilled white vinegar and use the cleaning brush to make sure they're ready for their next use! SIMPLE! *Note: Cleaning brushes do not automatically come with all Glass Straw purchases.*

  2. I learned that Dharma's straws are made from "borosilicate glass" which is made from silica & boron oxide and that helps these straws be more resistant to thermal shock & are also hypo-allergenic. Amazing! And probably most important, they contain no lead.
