Gorton's Blogger Giveaway
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The New Year always brings about a yearning for change and improvement. It's time to make those resolutions: Lost 100 pounds... give up snacks and sodas... stop drinking / smoking / having fun.

You get the drift.

How long do most resolutions last? Less than 72 hours. Yep... less than three days. Why? Because most of us set ourselves up for failure by setting goals too high to reach.

Not this year. 2015 is the THE year for the #RealisticResolution!

What are Realistic Resolutions? They are a set of small, attainable goals that can be reached in a timely fashion.

Gorton's Seafood has teamed with Spark People to create a series of tips, suggestions, workouts, and recipes to help you make those resolutions a reality!

Gorton's Seafood  has so many delicious varieties of fish available: Tilapia, Haddock, Alaskan Pollock, Salmon, Flounder, Shrimp, and Clams! And we ALL know that fish is an extremely healthy, diet-friendly, food.  Did you know that Gorton's offers eleven (11) gluten-free items? ALL of their grilled products are GF! None of their products contain MSG!

Tilapia is my favourite and this is a great recipe!

Gorton's has offered my readers a coupon to try one of their amazing fish dishes -- just click here!

A Pinch of German Review and Giveaway Ends April 30, 2014

DISCLOSURE:  I received a Cookbook and Package of Spice for the purpose of this review. I received no monetary compensation. All opinions expressed herein are my own and based on my own use of and experience with the item(s).

I love German cooking! From spaetzle to schnitzel to rouladen, I can eat it everyday!

When asked to review A Pinch of German Cookbook and Spices, I was delighted! I love to cook and love to eat.  Plus, I collect cookbooks! A win-win for me!

I received the Feed Your Dreams Cookbook and a package of Goulash Spice.  I chose to make the Hungarian Beef Stew (Goulash) from Page 83 of the cookbook.

I changed the ingredients a bit to suit our tastes and needs:

1 pound beef chuck, cubed
4 T Butter
4 T Goulash Spice
1 TSP Hungarian Paprika
3 cups Beef Stock
1 small can tomato paste
1 can diced tomatoes
1 T Garlic, minced
Salt and Pepper to taste

I sprinkled about 1 tablespoon of the Goulash Spice into a zippered baggie and added the beef.  Coated the meat well and then seared along with the garlic.
I added all other ingredients to the crock-pot and stirred until well mixed.  I drained and added the meat and garlic.  Cooked on low for approx. 8 hours until the meat was tender.
When the dish was done, I added hearty egg noodles and simmered for about 12 minutes until the noodles were done.

It was... FABULOUS! Very hearty, very tasty, and very satisfying!  This is real comfort food. Mike and I both loved it.  He said it will be a great dinner on a cold, wet, winter night. I agree. This is food that sticks to your ribs and soothes your soul.

The Cookbook is filled with traditional recipes collected by the author, Nathalie Porter, since childhood.  There are over 160 recipes included and several pages of colour photos of the dishes.

The recipes include: Appetizers, Dips, Stews, Salads, Vegetables, Soups, Meats, and Desserts! I've spent several hours reading and re-reading those recipes. They sound so delicious!

One of the things I really like is Nathalie's encouragement to make the recipes your own.  She knows, as does any great cook, that the best dish is the one with your own personal touch.

Throughout the cookbook are little verses and quotes designed to brighten and enlighten.

One of my favourites:

*It isn't the travel that broadening, it's all that rich foreign food!*

Truer words never spoken.

In the back of the book are Nutritional tips, USDA food guide, measurements and equivalents, food substitutions, and even Blessed Scripture!

I will be using this amazing cookbook for a very long time.  I think you will as well!

Nathalie has generously offered one of my readers to win a copy of Feed Your Dreams and a sample package of Goulash Spice! How fabulous is that?

COOK'N Recipe Organizer 11 Review and Giveaway, Ends 2/8/14

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I collect recipes. I get them from magazines, cookbooks, blogs, friends, and more. Keeping them in some semblance of order? I don't wanna talk about it!

My collection is a hot mess. Rather, it WAS a mess. I have the newest, best version of Cook'n yet! I absolutely love it.

It's completely up-to-date with social media platforms such as Pinterest, Facebook, Blogs, Smart Phones. I think, given a little more tweaking, it could actually cook your meals! (I do hope they are working on that! ;)

It's impressive -- all of the things that Cook'n can do!

Cook'n 11

The Ultimate Recipe Organizer

The Only Recipe Software that lets you:

How fantastic is that? Literally everything you need to save, store, and sort your favourite recipes at your fingertips! It's a time-saver!

It's not only perfect for the everyday cook, but a true gift for college kids and young people out on their own for the first time.
I know my own daughters would greatly benefit from this program. Especially my youngest, Lizz. She's still a 'beginner' at cooking. Cook'n would really help ease the stress of meal preparation for her!

Watch this Video for a great demonstration of how Cook'n 11 has updated, improved new features!

My favourite tool is the Nutrition Tracker. As someone who's watching her weight and trying to eat healthier meals -- it's a life-saver. Knowing that I can make the best choice when planning and preparing a meal means so much to me.

I think my 2nd favourite tool is the Pinterest capture. I pin so many recipes... and they get lost in the chaos. This is the perfect way to save my favourites.

If, like me, you are addicted to recipes or just need a program that will help you in your day-to-day cooking, this is for you!

You may connect with Cook'n on their Social Media Pages:  Facebook, Pinterest, Google+, and @CooknSoftware on Twitter.
