#CLICK 'n with Casein and a Total Body Sculpting Giveaway ends 10/05/15

I'm sure that you all know by now that I am still on my weight-loss journey.  I've had several setbacks due to health issues this year, but I am still pushing toward my goals.  I refuse to give up.

I'm quite sure that you all know my greatest weapon is the Espresso Protein Powder from Drink Click.  It's my go-to breakfast and late evening snack.  This is my life-line when I fall.  It keeps me going and keeps me healthy.

Now, I realize that there are other protein powders on the market. I've tried a few in the past. Why didn't I stick with any of them? Because they were all Whey Protein powders.  Is that bad? No, not really.  But I could NOT get used to the taste or after-taste of those powders.  I also didn't care for the way the whey protein metabolizes and I could not get past their inability to completely dissolve -- clumps are just not appealing.

Then I discovered my beloved Click Coffee Protein Powder!  What's the difference between Click and other protein powders?

It's the Casein Protein.  Casein is a milk protein.  It has no unpleasant after-taste, it dissolves completely, and it metabolizes in the most optimum way.

Proteins are composed of both essential and nonessential amino acids:

Essential amino acids must be obtained through food as the body cannot synthesize these.
Nonessential amino acids are still important to construct our body’s proteins. The name just means it is not necessary for us to ingest them because our bodies can synthesize them.

1. Casein’s greatest strength is timing. Casein has the ability to provide your bloodstream with a slow and steady flow of amino acids that could last for hours. Casein is better used at bedtime. While you sleep, you have the greatest opportunity for muscle repair, and casein can aid in that type of repair throughout the night since it produces seven hours of steady elevation of amino acids.

2.  A recent study concluded that a 25% increase in casein intake while dieting boosts energy expenditure, protein balance, satiety, and negative fat balance, which is beneficial to body weight management

3. Studies have shown that casein has anti-catabolic abilities. In other words, it prevents or minimizes the breakdown of hard-earned muscle.

4. No unpleasant after-taste or clumping.

Now, I am a big fan of getting in at least two servings of fruit each day and I much prefer it at breakfast.  So I just add it to my Click!

Here's my early morning recipe:

1/2 ripe banana
1/4 cup sliced strawberries (frozen or fresh)
10 ounces low-fat milk
2 scoops Click protein powder
Ice (or even better, cubes made from frozen coffee!!!)

1. Assemble ingredients

2. Add milk, coffee cubes, fruit, and powder

3. Blend well!

Drink it up and enjoy!

Now, another thing I have found useful over the years is a community of other women and men who are sharing this same journey.  That community is Spark People and I've been a member for several years.

#DrinkClick Chocolate Covered Cherry Mocha Decaf

I don't have to tell you that Click is my go-to protein Powder.  You know!  But did you know it's the PERFECT bedtime beverage? It is.

I use the Decaf at night to help replenish my depleted protein, vitamins, and minerals.  It helps me sleep and I do wake up refreshed.   I also tend to sleep more soundly so I awaken earlier as well.

The recipe for Chocolate Covered Cherry Mocha Decaf is very simple:

FRESH Whole Cherries, pitted.  (I prefer whole, fresh cherries. I am not too sure that Maraschino Cherries would taste the same.)

CAUTION: Eating crushed / blended cherry pits is LETHAL (Cyanide). Do NOT crush / blend cherry pits.

I used about 1/3 to 1/2 cup pitted cherries depending on the size of the cherry.

8 ounces 2% milk  (or water, if preferred)

2 scoops Mocha Decaf  Click

1 teaspoon Sweet Cream non-dairy creamer

2 ice cubes

Blend well and enjoy.  Know that you're enjoying an evening treat the safe, healthy, and delicious way!

#DrinkClick.  I do!

My Weight Loss Journey: Day One

Weight: 258 Pounds
Height: 5' 3"
Age: 54

Goal Weight: 150 pounds

Pounds to Goal: 108

Well, that's certainly a bit daunting.  But... it is what it is. I need to lose 108 pounds to reach my goal.

My short-term goals:
Lose 1 1/2 to 2 pounds per week.
Lose a total of 30 pounds in six months.

Weight Goal by November 17: 228 pounds

Weigh In: Sunday Morning

I CAN DO IT.

After all, I am a smart woman and I have great support from family, friends, and you, dear readers!

I also have a not-so-secret weapon: CLICK Protein Powder.

Click is my go-to protein.  I drink it every day.  Usually at breakfast -- two scoops of Click, some diced fruit, 2% milk, and a couple of ice cubes.  YUMMY!

Click has helped my lose a LOT of weight. I am embarrassed to tell you that my highest weight was once a little over 325.  I lost 66 pounds with Click and was on my way to *One-derland* -- when I simply gave up.  I gained about 35 pounds back, then re-started and lost another 43.

This past January, both Mike and I became quite ill.  Mine was a lingering sinus infection that turned septic.  Mike had to have TWO major surgeries in one day.

While both of us have now recovered, it ended up with Mike LOSING about 30 pounds and I GAINED ten!

However, I am determined to get back on track. The first thing I've done to set myself on the right path? I have my Click on my kitchen counter!

I will tell that it's actually a bit difficult to explain how Click makes me feel.  After just a very few days, I have 3X the energy, my outlook changes, my mood improves.

I suppose that's a combination of both the physical improvement and mental improvement that comes with knowing that you're helping yourself.

I have come to like and endorse many products in the past few years.  THIS product, I have come to trust and rely on like no other.  It's become an important part of my life.

I contacted the folks at Click to let them know how much their protein powder has helped me in the past and how much weight I'd lost. They were so very supportive and enthusiastic about my determination to start anew.

They are generously providing me with a few canisters of Click to help me lose weight.  I thank them with all of my heart.

Over the next few months, I invite to click along with me as I take the first steps on my weight-loss journey.  I need cheerleaders! I also need task-masters to help keep me on the straight and narrow!

The video below is my first of this journey -- there will be more!

I received product from CLICK Protein at no charge. The opinions expressed herein are my own and based on my own use of and experience with the item.

Get Clickin' with #Click Caramel! Review and Giveaway Ends 3/26/14

Disclosure: I received a canister of Click Caramel Protein Powder for the purpose of this review. I received no monetary compensation. This post may contain Affiliate Links. The opinions expressed herein are my own and based on my own use of and experience with the item(s).

As most of you know, I've been addicted, uhm, a fan of Click Protein Powder for several years.  It's has helped me in so many ways:  I lost 66 pounds a few years ago using Click to replace one meal and one snack per day.  My health improved (finally getting the recommended daily protein and 23 Vitamins and Minerals.) and I simply felt more energetic and enthusiastic!

My first experiences with Click were drinking the wonderful Mocha and then the delightful Vanilla Latte.   I thought it couldn't get any better.

I was so wrong!  It HAS gotten better!

Introducing... Click Caramel!  Yes, Caramel!  Folks, it is fantastic!  Creamy, smooth, just sweet enough (not overpowering).

I've been experimenting with it.  I've mixed it with both the mocha and the vanilla.  It blends very well with both.  I've added a bit of coffee creamer with it, too.  I've even added about 1/4 tsp. of sea-salt to make a Sea-Salt Caramel shake.  *BLISS*

The Sea-Salt and Caramel is even better with warm milk.  I tried that last night with great results.  Very soothing and calming.  Ya'll know I suffer with Chronic Insomnia.  Last night, I slept like a baby.  I'm going to try it again tonight, too.

If I thought the mocha was always going to be my favourite, I was mistaken.  The Caramel is now my go-to Click!

My own way of making Click may be different from yours, of course.  I use a larger bottle, ice cubes, and whole milk.  I am, after all, the grand-daughter of a Georgia Dairyman.  Milk is life.  :)

Click is so easy to blend.  It doesn't 'clump up'.  It's smooth and lump-free.  It's like a milkshake, really, but so good for you.  Honestly, sometimes it's hard not to make two of these!

FROM THE WEBSITE:

CLICK is a rich, delicious coffee protein powder beverage. Each 12- 14 ounce serving contains a double shot of gourmet espresso coffee, 15 grams of lasting protein and 23 essential vitamins and minerals. All CLICK products are naturally flavored, colored, gluten-free and CLICK’s high quality protein is made from cows that are NOT treated with the rBST.

Ah... coffee... the elixir of life.  :)  Makes Click fully loaded... I love it.  However!!!  Click is also available in Decaf (except for the Caramel, although I'm sure that will be available soon)!

I urge you to check out Click's fantastic collection of recipes.

One of my favourites is inspired by Girl Scout Cookies:

CLICK-amello  aka dulce de leche:

*8-10 ounces of Almond Milk, Milk, Soy Millk, or water
*1 scoop NEW CLICK Caramel and 1 scoop CLICK Vanilla Latte
*4-5 ice cubes

*Mix ingredients in blender until smooth. Serve with a squirt of sugar free whipped cream and drizzle sugar free caramel syrup*

DELISH!

You may purchase Click at these fine retailers and also on amazon.com.

You can connect with Click on their Social Media pages:
Facebook, @drinkclick on Twitter, Pinterest, and YouTube.

Click Caramel receives my highest recommendation.  This is a product I have used, enjoyed, and believed in for years.  As long as it's produced, I will use it.  It has helped me and benefited my health.  I would be lost without it.

The wonderful folks at Drink Click have generously offered one of my readers the chance to win a canister of Caramel Click!  That's fantastic!

Living Well with GNC -- Review & Giveaway Ends 1/12/12

Like most of you, I have a few New Year's Resolutions to make (and hopefully not break).

One of them is to take better care of myself and my family.

GNC is a truly great place to start. From Vitamins and Supplements to Energy and Endurance to Diets -- GNC has it all for your every need.

Although I'm beyond the baby-making days, I am still keenly interested in providing my daughters (Michelle and Liz) with positive information to help them make good nutritional choices.

Michelle was born with a condition known as Spina Bifida, a Neural Tube defect. Although she has experienced many operations and many painful days as a result -- her spirit never falters. She walks... she runs... she drives... and she's been blessed by G-d.

Spina Bifida is caused by a lack of Folic Acid during pregnancy. It can be devasting to some children. Some, like Michelle, are able to function normally.

January is National Birth Defects Prevention Month.

GNC has an amazing line of products to aid pregnant or planning-to-be-pregnant women.

GNC Women's Prenatal Program (30 Day Supply)

Complete multivitamin and nutritional support:

*Prenatal Formula - 60 Caplets
*Calcium 600 - 30 Caplets

*200 mg DHA, vital for a baby's brain and eye development
*1200 mg bone-strengthening calcium
*400 IU of vitamin D-3 to enhance calcium absorption

GNC Prenatal Program is a daily multivitamin program that provides nutritional support for both mother and baby before, during and after delivery. Pregnancy is a special time in a woman’s life and an important time to be mindful not only of your individual nutritional needs, but the nutritional needs of your baby as well. Maternal nutrition before and during pregnancy affects both your well=being and your infant’s growth. As your baby develops through the early phases of life, your nutritional needs will also increase. After delivery, you will need an adequate diet rich in essential nutrients such as calcium and folic acid to support nursing and replace depleted nutrient stores. This delicately blended multivitamin offers supplemental nutrition support for both you and your baby.

I am confidant that both of our girls will be taking nutritional supplements and vitamins all during their child-bearing years.

For myself, I no longer need pre-natal vitamins. Nope -- I need ENERGY!!!

DRINK CLICK! Review & Giveaway -- CONTEST CLOSED!

CONTEST CLOSED!

I recently was blessed to receive a sample of Drink Click! Protein Powder. As many of you know, I'm on a weight loss / fitness journey (chronicled at my weight loss blog: Body-IN-Progress.
I've been trying to get my daily protein needs through meal planning, but I'm not always getting my daily allowances.

I was very happy to receive my Drink Click! cannister and shaker. I was also, however, a bit nervous about it. I've tried a few protein powders and wasn't impressed by the dry, chalky taste.

Let me assure you, you WON'T have that problem with Drink Click!
On the contrary, Drink Click! protein powder dissolves thoroughly and the taste is amazingly good!

The first time I tried it, I made the basic, cold water recipe:
Make Click! Cold!
Pour 12-14 oz. of water into shaker, Add one serving (2 scoops) of CLICK,
Shake for 30 - 60 seconds, Pour over ice!

How did it taste? Just like an expensive iced coffee! The espresso taste is authentic -- no nasty after-taste -- no 'almost' about it. This is the real deal.

Then, I tried Drink Click! with Skim Milk and a few ice chips. Ooohhhh... A frothy espresso milkshake. That's how I like it best, too!
So good... and so satisfying.

I haven't tried it hot, yet. But I will tomorrow night as I watch Men's Olympic Speed Skating. :)

And to think, this is actually good for you! You can't top that.

I am well and truly impressed by Drink Click! Protein Powder.

So, where did Drink Click! come from?

From The Website: Drink Click! is the brainchild of Greg and Beth Smith, a Fresno, California couple who own a small chain of women’s fitness centers. The Smiths were seeking a delicious, healthy beverage in response to the growing wall of sugar based energy and espresso drinks for their members. Their simple solution – a protein based, espresso, all-in-one energy drink – that makes you feel that you are doing something good for yourself one cup at a time.

Protein is so important to any diet -- your body doesn't function as well without the proper protein allotment. Protein helps boost energy, curb your appetite, and burn fat! Drink Click! is a simple, effective, and tasty way to get that protein.
I highly recommend it!

I love the shaker, too. It holds 20 oz. of liquid and comes with a spiral whisk ball to aid in dissolving and mixing the protein powder! You can purchase the shaker and other Drink Click! products at their on-line store.

To learn more about Drink Click!, you can visit their website, sign up for their FREE newsletter, fan Drink Click! on Facebook, and follow them @DrinkClick on Twitter!

The kind folks at Drink Click! have generously offered not only a Prize package of a Canister of Espresso Protein Powder and a Shaker to one lucky reader, but 25 Individual Sample Packages to the first 25 readers to comment! How cool is that?
